Some more old ads from The Saturday Evening Post

This ad was in the October 10, 1903 issue of The Saturday Evening Post..
I like the line "Caricaturing is the exaggerating of natural characteristics"

and
Price 50 cents postpaid

This ad was in the February 27, 1904 issue.

This is the last of the old ads. Unless I take the time to go back over the
old news papers and see if there are some more ads of interest.

Some more old ads from The Saturday Evening Post

This ad (the Cartoonists Illustrators by the HEEB system) I showed earlier which it also ran here. What I liked about this is it shows the date
October 10. 1903
As well as the ad above it, that is bragging about driving in a car from coast to coast.

This ad ran February 27, 1904
What I find interesting is that these pen nibs were used for writing
when writing penmanship was an art.

Even some of use old-timers in the art field only knew these as
pen and ink nibs for drawing.
12 pens for 10 cents.....
What do pen nibs cost today?

Ads from 1903 in The Saturday Evening Post

Is this the first mechanical pencil?
It's SELF-SHARPENING.....
Here are some ads from 1903
in The Saturday Evening Post.
How about some Toilet Powder??
The illustration of the deafness ad on the bottom, shows a person shouting.
It reminds me of the gigs I was setup to close to the band.

Caricaturing in the early 1900’s

In 2004 my mother passed away at the age of 92.

Mom was living in the house (known by our family as the Home Place) my Great Grandfather on my Dad’s side had built way back when, and Lothrops have lived in that house since it was constructed. Needless to say my brother, sister and I found things that were saved we didn’t even know that were there. We came across some old Saturday Evening Posts. As I was looking thru them I found some ads for schools offering caricature instructions, some were on drawing others for illustration. There were some other ads that I will also share with you over the next few weeks.

These ads were from 1902, 1903 and 1904.

Some ads are better than some and NO!

Even thou I might need it, I did not send for the instructions.

The first clipping is from July 12, 1902 and the second clipping is from October 18, 1902

Enjoy.........
